Andrew Jackson passed away June 8, 1845 after living an amazing life of seventy-eight years. Throughout his life, Andrew was very well loved by those close to him. He was also an adventurous man who tried many vocations in the seventy-eight years. Andrew Jackson was a prosecuting officer, congressman, U.S. senator, Tennessee Supreme Court judge, major general and the United States seventh president. He was also a husband.

Born on March 15, 1767 Andrew Jackson was a native-born North Carolina citizen. His mother raised him all by herself since his father died a few weeks before Andrew was born. At the time of the Declaration of Independence Andrew Jackson was only nine. He even acted as a courier during the revolution when he turned thirteen. During his service, he and his brother (who later died of smallpox) were captured for several weeks. This imprisonment is what fueled his hatred for the British.

Once the Revolution ended, Andrew Jackson attempted to teach school, but soon moved on to studying law. This was when he became a prosecuting officer. Then, when Tennessee was admitted as a state, he became their first congressman. Following that time he was a U.S. senator for the state. Eventually, he served as a judge for Tennessee's Supreme Court. After six years as a judge, he became a major general where he served for over ten years on various armies. He even became a war hero during the War of 1812.

Andrew Jackson ran for president in 1824, but lost to Adams even though he had won the popular vote. Andrew would later call this the "Stolen Election". However, he ran again in the 1828 election. The campaign was brutal. Both sides ridiculed and put down the other and Adam even accused Jackson of adultery. Andrew Jackson won the election, but his wife died a soon after he had done so. The inauguration was somewhat marred by her death.

During Andrew's presidency, he accomplished many things. He was a supporter of state's rights and of a strong union. Andrew was the president that proposed the Indian Removal Act of 1830 and he was the president that took down the National Bank. He also enacted the principle that public good was more important then private rights. Two terms was all he served.

When Andrew Jackson retired he moved to his home in Nashville. His health had not been good during hid presidency and continued to deteriorate. He died finally from his bad health. Andrew Jackson was survived by his adopted son Andrew Jackson Jr.  Andrew Jackson was a great man, may he rest in peace.
